NEW DELHI- The All India Management Association has announced that in wake of COVID-19 pandemic, MAT will be conducted in June as a remotely proctored internet-based test also. In the official notice issued on the website, the authorities will conduct the pen and paper-based mode exam on June 14 and computer-based test on June 21. The dates for the internet-based exam are yet to be announced.

  • Candidates who opt for IBT mode, they will not have to go to the test centre for the exam and they can appear for the test from the confines of their home.
  • Those who opt for the IBT mode, must ensure that they have internet facility and a webcam in their computer or laptop.

Why IBT mode exam?

AIMA took the decision of conducting MAT 2020 for the May session with an aim to prevent the students from visiting the test centres as large gatherings might prove to be detrimental due to the widespread of COVID 19. Hence, the authorities are encouraging social distancing and also trying to ensure that the exams are conducted in a free and fair manner.

The conducting body for MAT or director general, All India Management Association (AIMA) Rekha Sethi said "Given that social distancing will be a norm in the foreseeable future, remote proctoring of examinations and tests is the way forward for students and recruiters both. It is secure, with AI-based live proctoring by invigilators and candidates can take it from the safety of their home anytime,”

What is Remote Proctoring Internet Based Test (IBT)?

Under “Remote Proctoring Internet Based Test (IBT)”, candidates will appear for the test from their homes provided they have a computer with webcam and internet connectivity as per technical specifications.

Key Factors of IBT:

1. Candidates selection the IBT are not needed to go anywhere or any exam center they can give the test from the confines of their home.
2. Candidates wants to IBT mode, must ensure that they have internet facility and a webcam in their computer or laptop.
3. Candidates must have the right bandwidth so that they do not face any problem while appearing for the exam.

Note:

AIMA is also prepared to take action against candidates found to be contravening pre-specified behavioural norms during MAT. They would be given a warning and thereafter even disqualified for a repeat contravention. In order to familiarise candidates with the format as well as try out the robustness of the software, AIMA will first schedule a series of mock tests at a nominal extra fee.

Why IBT?

The main reasons of doing this is the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. The AIMA wants the protection of students and to maintain social distancing so that IBT is going to starts. Through this the students can give the exam by sitting on home with free of cost.This ‘anytime-anywhere’ mode will ensure that candidates are not deprived of appearing for a qualifying test.

MAT 2020:

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardized test conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programs. Any B-school whether it’s national or international can consider MAT Score as the yardstick for admission to their MBA programs. MAT has been administered since 1988 and it was approved by Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD as a national level test in 2003. Being one of the largest tests of its kind in the country, MAT continues to be the gateway to over 600 B-Schools across India.

The All India Management Association (AIMA), the conducting body of MAT has announced that it will be introducing Remotely Proctored Internet-Based Test (IBT) for the June session of MAT 2020.

The All India Management Association (AIMA), which is the conducting body of MAT has announced that it will be conducting the exam in Remotely Proctored Internet Based (IBT) mode. As per the latest notification, AIMA has said that MAT 2020 will take place in IBT mode along with the existing Paper Based Test (PBT) and Computer Based Test (CBT) modes in the June session due to the coronavirus outbreak in the nation.

AIMA’s notification states that as a further measure, they will be introducing IBT mode, which will be conducted on separate dates. To appear for the exam in the IBT mode, the candidates can log in from their homes rather than visiting a test centre. However, there will be certain conditions which the candidates will have to follow while appearing for the exam in the IBT mode.

MAT 2020 was supposed to be held earlier in May but that has been postponed due to the COVDID-19 situation and the lockdown. MAT 2020 PBT will be held on June 14 and CBT will be conducted on June 21, 2020. The date for the IBT mode will be announced in due course of time. MAT 2020 registration for the PBT and CBT modes is still underway and will end on June 7 for PBT and June 15 for CBT. Candidates can fill the registration form of MAT 2020 on the official website.
