Background
Economic development aims to create a stable, prosperous, and equitable society by leveraging resources, implementing effective policies, and fostering an environment conducive to economic growth. Procurement acts as a vital enabler of economic growth on a global scale. Through transparent, efficient, and inclusive procurement practices, countries can stimulate trade, attract investment, create jobs, foster innovation, and advance their sustainable development objectives. As economies become increasingly interconnected, strategic procurement plays a pivotal role in shaping the economic landscape and promoting global prosperity. India with a population of over 1.42 billion people and a rapidly growing economy, has immense potential for economic development, and effective procurement practices can serve as a catalyst in harnessing this potential.
The government of India has recognized the importance of procurement in driving economic development and has implemented various policies and initiatives to leverage it. From giving importance to digital economy and the introduction of technology platforms like GeM to promote transparency and efficiency, to policies prioritizing the participation of SMEs and promoting sustainable and inclusive procurement practices, the government's efforts are aimed at unlocking the potential of procurement for socio-economic growth.
Procurement plays a vital role in shaping a promising future globally. By aligning procurement practices with sustainable, ethical, and innovative principles, countries can foster economic growth, social development, and environmental sustainability.
After remarkable achievement of Global Procurement Summit in past few years, with delegates participating in summit from various nationalities, AIMA in partnership with Government of India and World Bank announces Global Procurement Summit 2024, GPS 2024 scheduled on 8th and 9th February 2024 at New Delhi. The Summit will bring together the most senior global and regional procurement community to through insights on the key areas required to improvise in order to strengthen Procurement as key function and hence contribute towards economic development.
The summit is expected to be attended by over 300 delegates from Government Offices, corporates, consultants and regulators from India and abroad. The deliberations will be done by the experts in the area of procurement from international organizations covering countries like USA, European Union, UK and South Asian countries etc.
AIMA India Case Research Centre(ICRC), body established with focus on developing & publishing Industry based India focused researched case announces case study competition as a part of GPS 2024.
The Case Study Competition is a motivating, stimulating, and exciting competition where individuals and teams from institutions, businesses, public sector units (PSUs), and government departments will have the opportunity to learn from and compete against teams from other participating entities in a setting that fosters collaborative thinking, competition, and creative problem-solving.
