Background

Procurement is increasingly recognised as a strategic leadership function with a direct bearing on organisational performance, growth and competitiveness. As expectations move beyond compliance, cost control and transactional efficiency, Chief Procurement Officers are required to influence enterprise decisions, strengthen commercial outcomes and align procurement priorities with wider organisational objectives. The theme, “Procurement at the Crossroads: Leadership as a Catalyst for Strategy, Growth and Competitiveness,” reflects this transition and underscores the need to position procurement at the centre of strategic decision-making.

In this context, the All India Management Association (AIMA) and the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) propose to jointly organise the CPO Conclave 2026 on 23 November 2026 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Conceived as an exclusive senior-leadership forum, the Conclave will bring together CPOs, chief executives, functional heads and institutional decision-makers to exchange perspectives on procurement leadership, enterprise value creation and organisational competitiveness.

AIMA and CIPS: Taking the Association Forward

AIMA and CIPS share a common commitment to strengthening professional standards, management capability and leadership excellence in procurement and supply.

AIMA, as an apex management body in India, has an extensive institutional network covering Government, public-sector enterprises, private industry, academic institutions and management professionals. Through its Procurement Vertical, AIMA has been engaged in procurement education, executive development, policy dialogue and capacity-building initiatives for professionals at different levels.

CIPS is a globally recognised professional body for procurement and supply. It contributes international professional standards, qualifications, research, good practices and a global community of procurement and supply professionals.

The association between AIMA and CIPS seeks to combine AIMA’s institutional reach and management-development experience with CIPS’ global professional expertise and leadership network. The proposed CPO Conclave is being jointly initiated as part of this association.

The Conclave will provide a dedicated platform for senior leaders to examine the organisational and leadership dimensions of procurement. It will complement broader procurement conferences by concentrating specifically on the role, influence, accountability and development of the Chief Procurement Officer and the senior procurement leadership team.

Through this initiative, AIMA and CIPS aim to build a continuing leadership community that can contribute to the advancement of the procurement profession in India.
