AIMA welcomes New Education Policy
29 July 2020, New Delhi
All India Management Association (AIMA) welcomes the New Education Policy announced by Government of India.
“I congratulate the Minister of Education, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on delivering a revolutionary education policy which meets many of the long-standing needs of the higher education sector and opens up possibilities of making Indian education comparable with the best in the world,” says Ms Rekha Sethi, Director General, AIMA.
Importantly, Ms Sethi says, the NEP will remove unnecessary complexity in delivery and regulation of higher education in the country and level the playing field for all students, irrespective of which college they go to – private or government. “The establishment of a single regulator for higher education is an excellent step,” she says.
AIMA also welcomes the permission for top 100 foreign institutes to set up campuses in India. “Having the top global colleges in India will reverse the brain drain and also raise the standard of the local colleges,” she says.
AIMA finds the steps to promote digital learning particularly important for the post-Covid world. The e-courses in regional languages is a great idea, says Ms Sethi.
The multiple exit options from multi-year degree courses is a much needed change and it would open up students’ academic options considerably.
“The NEP was long overdue and it is exactly what India needs. It is a great policy,” says Ms Sethi.
