‘MAT from home’ through Remote Proctoring Internet Based Test

Education Times

Education Times, Tuesday, April 28, 2020

As COVID-19 pandemic has made social distancing a necessity, Management Aptitude Test (MAT) will now also be available in 'Remote Proctoring Internet Based Test (IBT)' mode for the convenience of candidates. In this mode, candidates could appear for the test from the confines of their homes subject to certain norms including having a computer with webcam and internet connectivity conforming to the technical specifications. This ‘anytime-anywhere’ mode will ensure that candidates are not deprived of appearing for a qualifying test.

"Given that social distancing will be a norm in the foreseeable future, remote proctoring of examinations and tests is the way forward – for students and recruiters both. It is secure, with AI-based live proctoring by invigilators and candidates can take it from the safety of their home anytime,” says Rekha Sethi, director general, All India Management Association (AIMA), the conducting body for MAT.

How it works
Unlike in the traditional modes where the candidates are being proctored in the controlled environment of a test room, in this new mode of testing the candidates would be proctored remotely using artificial intelligence (AI) tools. Candidates who are found to be contravening the pre-specified behavioral norms for such tests would first be warned, and if repeating the offence, even disqualified.

AIMA will also make available a series of mock tests at a nominal extra fee so that the candidates have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with this new mode of testing before appearing for the actual test.

AIMA will make this technology available for descriptive tests conducted by it across India for the students enrolled for its distance education management programmess such as the PGDM, PGDITM, etc.
