National Competition for Managers, February 2018, New Delhi

All India Management Association (AIMA), as the national ape x body of management prof ession in the countr y is committed to enhancing the competence of management prof ession through its m ultif aceted activities . AIMA has a broad base of 67 Local Management Associations including tw o cooper ating LMAs abroad, with a membership of o v er 30,000. AIMA is represented on the Boards of India's premier Business Institutions and also represented on Boards of Go v er nment bodies including the AICTE, National Board of Accreditation, National Productivity Council to name a f e w . In addition, AIMA br ings to the Indian managers , the best management pr actices and techniques through n umerous f oreign collabor ations with prof essional bodies and institutions .

Today businesses are encountered by disruptions – ever enhancing technologies have become the source of destabilization for many organizations.The manager of today is faced with multiple, complex and repeated uncertainties at his workplace. The organisations today need to repeatedly reinvent themselves to stay ahead of the curve.

This is easier stated than experienced.Change is not easy and lots of decisions need to innovative and the response time needs to be quick. This makes the task of the manager an unenvious one. They are facing new and unique challenges every now and then. The challenges span from changing of processes and policies to strategic decision which may threaten the very existence of the company as everyone understands.

Managers are expected to do the following

  • Articulate 3 strategic challenges their organisations/ divisions face today
  • Do a SWOT – Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of the situation
  • Suggest a path-breaking, fresh and scalable idea to address these challenges
  • Also draw an action plan with expected impact or result of the Action Plan with clear cut roadmap with timelines
  • What as a manager you think is your role in changing leadership dynamics in the world which is being continuously disrupted?

The case study should be represented through visual means with lots of statistics and graphics.

  • Interact with the bright and talented contenders who they compete with in a highly stimulating environment
  • Build Leadership qualities, hone their presentation skills and learn to work as a team
  • Gain a broader perspective into the strategic and tactical aspects of the business environment they work in
  • An opportunity to interact with the learn from the reviews and inputs of an eminent jury comprising luminaries from academia, the corporate world, management consulting, media etc.

Team will then make the presentation before a panel of judges in the respective regional centre-Mumbai and Delhi. Thereafter the Jury will select top teams in the following category.

A two member team of executive from the same organization is eligible to participate.Organisation are also free to nominate as many as teams as they wish.

Registration will only be confirmed on receipt of participation fee. The fee paid is non-refundable/non-adjustable, though participation by a substitute is allowed.
Each team will be required to send the mandatory non-refundable entry fee, alongwith the registration form. The fee should be sent by a crossed demand draft/cheque in favour of All India Management Association, New Delhi.

AIMA is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee this year. To commemorate the same AIMA launched the 1st National Competition for Managers 2017, a presentation competition. Teams from PSU and private sector participated enthusiastically. The theme for the event was ‘India Story 2020 : Smarter, Faster and Cleaner’.

The event was held at 2 regional locations i.e. Delhi and Mumbai, followed by a Grand Finale in Delhi. The presentations were evaluated by very senior people from the corporate and academic world in both the regionals rounds and the Grand Finale. The winners were chosen in general and PSU category in both the regionals and Grand Finale.

The Grand finale was held on 11th March, 2017 in Delhi. YES BANK emerged as the winner in general category. SAIL and BPCL were joint winners in PSU Category. NPCI and BHEL were given special jury mention for their excellent presentaions.

The event was supported by Galgotias University, Jindal Steel and Power, Jindal Global Business School, Caring Minds and KJ Somaiya Institute Of Management Studies and Research as sponsors.

The grand finale was judged by
