About the Summit

World over, procurement function has already risen to a great prominence as a strategic tool for enhancing efficiency and economy in public expenditure management. Practioners acknowledge the need to develop and modernize procurement system across the continents to get the best value of money for meeting the already laid developmental objectives of the countries.

After the remarkable achievement of Global Procurement Summit 2016 and 2017, with delegates participating in the Summit from 15 nationalities, All India Management Association, in partnership with Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, Government of India and the World Bank announces The Global Procurement Summit 2018 , scheduled on February 8-9, 2018 at The Lalit Hotel, New Delhi. The Summit will provide forum to share the learning and the success stories from different regions, which will also encourage the countries which are at early stages of reform and might be facing teething problem. The summit will bring together the most senior global and regional procurement community to examine the new frontiers faced in the transformation process of procurement today. It will also present successful strategies and benchmark that procurement leaders can use to gain insight into best practices and ultimately improve the operations and performance.

The Summit is expected to be attended by over 300 delegates from government offices, corporates, consultants and regulators from India and abroad. The deliberation will be done by the experts in the area of Procurement from international organizations covering countries like USA, European Union, UK, South Asian countries etc.

The two-day summit will comprise of discussion, interaction with leading procurement experts covering the themes of the plenary sessions. The dialog will provide benchmark and insight for procurement transformation. The discussion during the summit will highlight the social, economic, environmental and competitive aspects of Procurement. The focus of the summit will be to emphasis procurement as a strategic process rather than an administrative tool.

  • Launch of India Procurement Knowledge Portal

As per various estimates, quantum of public procurement in India accounts for about US$ 500 Billion (20-30% of GDP). It is also estimated that there are a large number of officials (up to 7,00,000) involved in some or other capacity in public procurement function. In addition, there are many academician, researchers, civil society and private sector (suppliers/contractors) interested in procurement. Though procurement related data, information, documents etc. are available at various locations in public domain; there is no single point to access these.
Recognizing this need, All India Management Association in partnership with The World Bank is setting up the public procurement knowledge portal. The portal would have features like Q&A/Chat, News, Expert Articles, Workshop Proceedings, repository of rules/regulations, cases, best practices etc. Links to other relevant websites could also be provided. It would act as online platform for Knowledge, Networking and Education for all aspiring procurement professionals from around the country.

AIMA with support of Government of India and the World Bank organised its 2nd Global Procurement Summit (GPS) 2017 on the theme ‘Good Procurement for Good Governance’ during 27th – 28th February 2017 at New Delhi. The aim of the summit was to provide a platform for knowledge sharing amongst the procurement exports, exposing newer trends and global practices and to exchange best practices on procurement around the globe.

Mr Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Railways, Government of India delivered the inaugural address through video conference and said that he was very happy to see how AIMA is leading the thought process in not just the management space but also on some very key important issues that the country is facing. Mr Sunil Kant Munjal, President AIMA & Chairman, Hero Corporate Service delivered the keynote address.

AIMA also launched a certificate programme in Dispute Resolution with technical support of the World Bank during the Summit.
