AIMA organized its 4th National MSME Convention on 8th and 9th May 2013 in Guwahati. The MSME Convention focused on industrialization and enterprise issues in the North-East region in the backdrop of India’s quest for high Economic Growth. Shri Pradyut Bordoloi, Minister of Industries & Commerce, Power (Electricity) & Public Enterprises, Government of Assam delivered the Inaugural Address and released the Convention Theme Paper prepared by Dr J S Juneja. Dr J S Juneja, Chairman Task Force MSME AIMA, Past President AIMA set up the Context to the Convention on the theme: “Unleashing India’s MSME Potential: A New Vision”.
The speakers during the MSME Convention deliberated upon various MSME Capacity Development topics. The Plenary Sessions addressed by the eminent speakers were-

Few of the distinguished speakers who addressed the Convention were Mr CK Mishra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of MSME, Government of India; Prof Gautam Barua, Director, IIT Guwahati; Prof. Keya Sengupta, Director, IIM, Shillong; Mr A K Jha, Director General, NIESBUD and IIE Guwahati; Dr DD Mali, President, Promotion of Entrepreneurship and Economic Development; Dr Jayanta Madhab, Former Economic and Financial Advisor to Chief Minister of Assam; Ms Shehla Rahman, Managing Director, Assam Small Industries Development Corporation; Mr Vineet Agarwal, Joint Managing Director, Transport Corporation of India Limited; Mr Ashok Madhukar, Chairman & Principal Advisor Strategic Development, Afro Asian Development Consortium; Mr Suneet Singh Tuli, CEO, Datawind Ltd, Canada; Ms Shashi Singh Choudhary, Founder and Chairperson of Consortium and Women Entrepreneurs in India(CWEI)
The Convention ended on a positive note with policy and management recommendations presented by Dr J S Juneja, Chairman, MSME Task Force, AIMA. This two day Convention was enriched by the presence of more than thirty eminent speakers of diverse backgrounds including politicians, policymakers, leaders of associations, bankers, entrepreneurs and academicians, sharing their thoughts and views towards a progressive MSME sector in India with special focus on North East Region. With the objective of Capacity Development of MSMEs of India, AIMA is planning to conduct a series of MSME workshops jointly with LMAs all over India in the current year.
